The artistry of movement is a concept familiar to photographers and dancers alike. A camera can facilitate a response to the narrative introduced with dance.

It’s improper to attempt to justifiably photograph the kinetics and flow of dance without exploring the range of camera techniques possible. A variety of dance eras can be explored by the techniques used when they were documented. In fact, the relationship between dance and all forms of artistry has long been intertwined. It’s not revolutionary to attempt to showcase dance through relevant styles, rather, this piece serves as a celebration of this abiding relationship.

This work showcases the possibilities of camera work to study the history of both photography and choreography in such a way that surpasses what can be seen by the human eye.
